Eddie Rich

A San Francisco native, I began attending the races as a child with my parents. The local racetracks were often my weekend and summer vacation destinations, and by the age of 16, I had decided to become a thoroughbred trainer. In 1990, I accomplished that goal, and a year later I dropped my first “claim” on a horse, Stealing Memories, from trainer Jerry Hollendorfer and was fortunate to win back-to-back races with her.

Today, Golden Gate Fields is home-base. I train a small string of horses for several owners that’ve supported me over the years and I consider “friends,” as well as train a few horses I’ve bred. I love this industry and the people that make it great!

When I’m not at the track, I enjoy time with my loving family, friends, cooking great food, and enjoying life.
