ARCADIA, Calif. (May 12, 2017)–Idle since Aug. 6 at Del Mar, trainer Richard Mandella's Bombard came back fresh and ready Friday at Santa Anita, as he registered an impressive gate to wire score in the track's $56,000 allowance feature, winning by 2¼ lengths while getting 6½ furlongs down the hillside turf course in 1:11.73.

"He's grown up some," said Mandella. "He's always been a big colt, but he seemed to grow into himself during the time off and hopefully he's ready to progress from here. We'll look at stretching him out to a mile, but it's pretty nice to know he can run six and a half down this hill, too."
